Abbott’s Creek/Neuse River Greenway

A quick March afternoon walk

I have had this area on my list for a while, but alas, I could not seem to get up here until today.   I was not prepared for a 3.7-mile hike but enjoyed it none the less.  This area, especially near the river, has great potential, and I can’t wait to return after migration begins.

Best bird was a Red-shouldered Hawk that flew four feet in front of me along the trail.  Best mammal – two deer bedded down near the riverside greenway trail. Nobody could see them except me.

Here is the eBird report of 37 species.
